California Crottin


California Crottin is Redwood Hill Farm's version of French classic Crottin de Chavignol.
This is an award-winning cheese having been the Best in Show at the American Dairy Goat Association National Cheese Competition and Best Farmstead Goat Cheese at the prestigious American Cheese Society.
California Crottin is also available is a larger size. Redwood Hill Farm has christened it "Terra" based on the French word "terroir."


It has a wrinkly, geotrichum candidum rind with a dense, tangy, fluffy texture that firms and dries as it ages. Flavours are robust, earthy with a lingering taste of mushroom.


Re-wrap these cheeses in their original storage-enhancing paper or parchment and store in a cool environment. If kept whole, and stored in a cool, dry environment, these cheeses become grateable, with a sharp and complex flavor at about two months of age.
Superb in salads as well as an excellent cheese plate selection, this handmade delicacy is best served at room temperature.
